Roman "swiss" knife from Fitzwlliam Museum - My replica
#1
Hy guys, this is my first post,
I want to show my last Roman replica: the utility "Swiss" knife from the Fitzwilliam Museum ... I guess you know it, this is the link to Museum [url:3l26nfey]http://www.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/opac/search/cataloguedetail.html?&priref=70534&_function_=xslt&_limit_=50

This was a very interesting project, a real technological knife for the roman age.
The original is in silver but I have reproduced in bronze, lost wax of course, like most of my works.

My English is very bad language and does not allow me to explain many things to you (I am very sorry) but I insert this link where you can download a my video documentary and see how I made this knife.

[url:3l26nfey]http://www.marcodifrancesco.altervista.org/filmati/M.D.F.%20Roman%20(Swiss)%20Knife.avi clik on orange word "qui" to download it

I hope you like it .. and sorry for my bad English Cry

Wow. You did a wonderful reproduction. Well done. And your English is good enough. Don't get angry of posting because of bad English. We've a lot of people here of whom English isn't their first language and know the problem.

Don't know if he wants to sell them, but you can get them by Jorge Mambrilla or Len Morgan.

I don't know the one by Len Morgan, but the one from armillum I wouldn't recommend if you want a real reproduction and not a "trooper helmet" version of this piece ...
We actually talked about this before: See <!-- l <a class="postlink-local" href="http://www.romanarmytalk.com/rat/viewtopic.php?p=180203#p180203">viewtopic.php?p=180203#p180203<!-- l for more details ...

Many thanks guys,

@ Jvrjenivs
thanks, the great problem is that many times I fail to describe all my good works and techniques used!

@Martin Moser
measures are very similar to the original, only with the customer we decided to add about 1cm because too small for a modern hand ... the Romans were very small Smile
I had a picture with weight but now I can not find.

This copy is not available, I sold two of these and I have to start another one next month for a customer ... if anyone is interested I can reproduce another.

Coming i post another replica of a Roman knife ... another bronze lost wax of course 8)
