Did Alexander\'s Lochagos Wear Crests?
#1
Hello folks,

I'm interested in finding out whether or not the front-ranking phalangites of Alexander's infantry formations would have worn crested helmets? Would any of the men in his phalanx? If so, or if not, what evidence do we have to claim one way or the other? I've noticed a trend in some contemporary artwork, such as in Connolly's The Greek Armies and in Warry's Warfare in the Classical World that post-classical phalangites tend not to have crested helmets. I do not own any reference books particularly about Alexandrian or Hellenistic hoplites and haven't been introduced to any modern authority that shows it the other way around, or read of any evidence. Enlighten me, please. Thank you in advance, 'n cheers!
