Lorica segmentata from Caerleon
#91
Hi Louise - I have sent you a Private Message.
Moi Watson

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, Merlot in one hand, Cigar in the other; body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO, what a ride!

Many thanks to whoever left the positive comment on the blog (I'm willing to bet my calcei it was one of you!). Julia is a very excellent intern, and feedback like this is very encouraging.

The new dig at Caerleon has started, investigating the massive complex of buildings between the amphitheatre and the river Usk.
You can read the blog here:-

Anna is in charge of her own trench this year, Trench 9, where they've already found two very well preserved opus signinum floors....she's very excited. 8)

Curiously enough, the same excavation I've been on. An excellent conservator, for sure!

Smashing photographs! Thanks Louise - I've also left a comment on the website.

Could you twist someone's arm (off completely if necessary LOL!) to put up an update on the scale "garment" - pretty please? Big Grin

And a bit more (she's been having real problems with the website for some reason- I thought doing a blog was supposed to be easy!)

Thank you- I'm increasingly impressed at archaeologists ability to decipher and make meaningful these finds....when without the captions and annotations I would mainly see earth....
