I know, and he's such a nice guy too.
I hope for his sake that it isn't raining that day.

Well, My copy of Hoffmann arrived this week.
And yes, ironically, it was raining that day. And I had to work late that day. Fortunately, the mailman didn't leave it out in the rain, he left a ticket in my mailbox saying that I could pick it up at the post office. I haven't gotten too far with it yet, but from what I've read so far, I have to say that this is an impressive bit of work.

So far, I have to agree with the faction claiming that Hoffman, while sometimes erroneous, was not *that* far from the truth.
My brother-in-law got married in Las Vegas not long ago, and my wife and I were invited. After making the long trip, I actually won a small sum of money. I knew exactly what to do with it: I paid off the credit card that I used to buy Hoffmann's magnum opus and I ordered a copy of Nicassie right away. I'm interested to see "the other side" of the discussion. Once I've digested all of this information, I'll start "tagging" the database that I drew up of the Notitia and upload it so that other members can use it and contribute more material.

Wow! I didn't know that. Looks like I had good luck at more than just the casino; I found my copy on AbeBooks too, but it was only 60 USD - not exactly cheap, but still within the 'normal' range for academic titles like this.
