Mallory's 'In Search of the Indo-Europeans: Language, Archaeology and Myth', London: Thames & Hudson, 1989. Chapter 3 (pp66-109) examines the evidence for the whereabouts of peoples in early Europe covering the Greeks, Thracians, Illyrians, Slavs, Balts, Germans, Celts and Italics and has several helpful maps.
