Britannia brought the 5th Century to life at Caerleon. The amphitheatre rang to the sounds of sword and axe on shield for a battle between Romano-British and Saxon invader! All the while being filmed by live feed to the Caerleon Museum website.

wow, wonderful shield paintings. Seems like a nice event a you doing nice paint jobs. I like it when artisians are working on events, and really show their trade instead of only presenting the finished items. Well done.

They did their own show with the audience's kids... it was brilliant, the crowd loved it too!

Any cavalry at that preformance? That would have been a real topper for a Sub-roman/Arthurian themed event.

Sadly no. The arena was a little confined for cavalry, ok for a cavalry only display I guess, but too confined for infantry/cavalry - not only that, the arena turf is very archaeologically sensitive, that's why no tents were erected in there I don't know what policy is on cavalry in it, but one can imagine their reaction if it was covered in deep hoof marks, especially as the last half of day 2 got a bit soaked by a shower!

This was a lovely show to be involved in, making my debut as an archer. Fantastic location, comparable to sites I've visited in France.
We visited the Roman Army Museum in kit between performances, and in viewing aerial photographs there I was only then able to appreciate the enormity of the original site.
Really looking forward to the next time we get to 'play' there
