The atmosphere was great - and the people were totally welcoming... I latched on to the Batavi next to their spiffing altar and Draco to sew tunics for the weekend... it was a magical place and a bunch of top peeps...

Sleeping under the stars where the iron age Brits, Romans, and William the Conqueror walked, a beautiful site with layers of history. I'm longing to go back.
At work today I felt I was the wrong side of C.S. Lewis's wardrobe!!!

That altar was superb- a copy of the Caerwent altar, carved from the limestone in the Roman quarry. And great tunic btw!!

You're all right, the site is damn amazing ! I really love old Sarum and Salisbury's region since the first time. The Atmosphere on Sarum's plate was magic. After Saturday's evening briton choirs I saw shooting stars behind the fortress, it was a wonderful magic night. A pity I'm not a bard because nights at the Sarum are a perfect space-time for poetry after the "tumultus" of the day.

Hi lads,

I´ve just joined the forum after returning home from Old Sarum. What a great experience ... even after years of reenactment (in other times including the WW (early Wurstwasser period directly following the wood age :wink: )) there are still some "goose pimple" events. And this was definitive one of them. Great athmosphere, great brotherhood and a really warm welcome for us "newcomers". Thanks to the organizers so as to all other attending groups and single persons to make it to such an event.
