Nice shot, well composed.
Like the little touches like the arrow in the shield!

It was a lovely site, great event too, many more people on the Monday, English Heritage had to open up an extra field to let more cars in, as the car park was full to capacity.
I was recognised by a family that I spoke to last year, they'd driven up from Chester just to see us again, that's really nice to hear.

The high point was speaking to a load of army cadets that were walking the wall in aid of Help For Heroes (One of our Armed services charity) - they started trying on the kit and having their pctures taken with it.
Lovely bunch of people.

Recently (early May) a few of Britannia ran 5k (about 3 miles) around Hyde Park in aid of Help for Heroes, in early Roman armour with some lads from Scotland Yard's diplomatic protection squad, 10 of them managed to complete the run in very high temperatures, apparently the weight wasn't a problem, but the reflected body heat from the lorica segmentata was almost unbeareable, even with modern materials worn underneath. (I think there's incriminating pictures somewhere Big Grin )

Birdoswald's a lovely site, a bit of a hike for us, but worth it, the staff are a lovely bunch of people too, worth a trip, especially for the views.

That was the problem I had in Rome, the trapped heat. I was planning on wearing a hamata this year to see if there was any difference.
Mind you we were just marching with all our gear as opposed to running.

I think there's a mob arriving from France about the same time the German later Romans do, we're looking forward to the wine tasting!
We're going to introduce our guests to British cuisine, we'll start peeling the spuds now!

I'll be bringing Libum, Dates, an assortment of Roman style cheeses, cured meats, Bloody Mary's, Mead, and strange liquors from accross the empire...

Oh an some bits n bobs to sell - not much at the moment I'm afraid but I have some cloaks, ancient breed sheepskins, lanolin, couple of basic caps, bone dice, tablet weave and some wool... I'll also be bringing some leather, leather working equipment and shoe patterns if anyone wants me to knock up a pair cheaply.

I'll also have my order book with me if anyone wants to place and orders for clothing...

Looking forward to meeting more like minded RAT nutters

Wow, I didn't know the Picti were intent on raiding at this time of year. I'll have to write that down somewhere... (Walks away to find wax tablet)
