Fixing crap weaponry.
#1
I purchased this "Celtic Shortsword" from a flea market when I was 15 years old. It has been lying around for years with no purpose so I decided to fix it so I could at least walk around at a "Ren" Fair and not bend the "rat tail tang" by bumping into something. Here is what I ended up with:

I thought about how to do it than took it to a metal shop. The shop owner thought of how to do it. He grooved out a piesce of flat steel then spot welded the tang to to the flat steel. He then bored out the cross guard to fit the new tang and made an impression on the hilt so it wouldn't slide so much. I am still able to use the fittings but will leather wrap the handle for simplicity.

I know it's not ideal but it is kind of functional at least. Later I would like to just full cast it out of bronze for a more accurate Celtic Warrior impression.

If you have anything you altered please post it. I would love to see it.
