Here is one that I find particularly disturbing, my father is a missionary worker and has never meant harm to anyone.

Wow, that is indeed tragic Cry

Honestly, if they were missionaries who were actually trying to convert people to Christianity, I could at least understand the affront to Afghan identity. But this just seemed like some people who were trying to provide tangible help to impoverished people. Of course it could just as easily be a "cover story" by the Taliban; they might have just been civilian bystanders and been killed in one of the frequent flare-ups, and whammo, the Taliban takes credit for their deaths, saying these guys were trying to convert people. Of course, just as likely, they were targeted for just being there to begin with.

How sad Sad

Of course. This is the Taliban we're speaking of and they have made no secret of it that every non-Muslim foreigner to them is an enemy that they will deal with without mercy.
I have the utmost respect for those who, knowing this, still dare to risk their lives bringing relief to the suffering population of Afghanistan.

The driver of the van was able to save himself by reciting Muslim scripture, these people were slain execution style, including one British woman who had walked away from her career to help those in need. The party consisted of mostly Christians but there was at least the one Muslim gentelman, in other words this was simply an effort to help the impoverished by members of both faiths.

Definitely. What I meant was that groups like the Taliban tend to "take credit" for anything bad that happens whether they *actually* had anything to do with it or not. "Looking worse" makes them "look better", you know? In the end I guess it doesn't matter too much though, because either way a bunch of innocent people are still dead, but..

When opened a ceremonial libation poured to Sir Ernest Shackleton and crew wouldn't be a bad idea.
