Gladiators at the Saalburg 06.06.2010

The Saalburg will host a Day of the Gladiators on the 06th of next Month.
Marcus Junkelmann and his goup will be displayng their equipment in their camp and in action.

Children will be able to complete a training course and attend my "Ludus Minimus" Gladiator school where me and my three doctores will teach them the basics of Gladiator combat.
After that each child will be able to practice what they learned in a short bout with me or one of my doctores.

The day was quite hot at 30 degrees and my three magisters were exhausted after having fought about 250 children in 8 hours.
The photos were taken when we had smaler groups of about 15 kids, while Mr Junkelmann did his Gladiator fight shows, but in between the shows we had al lot of groups book with our maximum of 30 kids.

All in all it was a great day and I am always happy to see the bright eyes of the boys and girls that cann now say they fought real gladiators after attending my Ludus.
And I do hope to return to the beautifull Saalburg next year.

my Ludus Minimus - Gladiator school for kids is in its third year now.
Doing fightshows is a lot more thrilling of course but working with the kids is quite gratifiing and a lot more exhausting after a whole days work (i.e. getting beaten up by the little ones)

Looking forward to seeing my loyal pupils in Augusta Treverorum in August (Brot und Spiele Trier) again.
