Roman cavalry standards in 3rd Cent. BC
#1
Has anyone got any information on whether the Roman cavalry at the time of the second Punic war used any standards? Every single one of my (numerous) texts bar Duncan Head's Armies of the Macedonian and Punic Wars is sadly lacking in this detail. Head states that "Cavalry had vexilla, probably one per turma." What does he base this on, given that no one else refers to cavalry standards?

"Anyone? Anyone? Class? Class? Bueller? Bueller?"

I'll take that as a 'No one has an answer' then!
