I had a similar experience, several years ago. There are, in a lottery, two possibilities: either you win the main price, or you don't (in which case you win a smaller amount of money, or win nothing at all). That's simple, and it is only logical that if you buy two tickets, one of these must have the main price.

I did so, back in 2003 or so, and am still waiting until they pay me.
