Titled links

Just a quick technical query - can anyone tell me how to add titled links to posts? That is, rather than having the full url appear in the post, the link appears as a word or phrase within the text. Quite a few people here manage it, and I used to do it on the old board, but I can't figure out the (probably very simple) way to do it on this one...
