Looks nice!
The originals from B&C are all a bit narrower than the original you chose, which is quite wide. It might be an idea to go for a slightly narrower blade, and make a more generic dagger Smile

Thx on your comment, here i post mine first design which one i do according to some Morowind designed replica... but far from original...
One of mine friend who is working with artefacts from Skopje, Macedonia, the line of the blade was so strait. After that i choose this pictures with more i can say "fat" design...
Regarding his opinion the blade of pugio represent the body of a woman, so mine first blade was some tight lady.... Big Grin D D , here is mine first....

Frater,

I know that piece in the pictures, It is rough! It was made by the Blacksmith in the Old Town as a proof of concept. The blade is absolutely deadly, as sharp as a razor! I was assured that the second and third attempts would have a much finer finish and that the blade would not be so sharp as to be a hazard to the public, after all we want to educate them ,...not kill them. Since that piece was made , the Blacksmith has had health problems, tried to get married in Germany and other adventures that have prevented any meaningful work on Roman gear.

All of the fossil technology required to make very good Roman equipment still exists here. It only takes education and perseverance,...the costs are extremely low compared to western Europe, the UK and the US. I had a sewing co op of Grannies make wool tunics, They are 100% red wool and completed using a mixture of hand and machine sewing. Anything is possible here.

Why don't you give me a post off forum and we can get together to discuss this.

Looking at your drawings, your revised picture looks like a fairly typical mid first century AD dagger. Look more carefully at the pictures of late second-early third century daggers. You will see they are typically longer than your drawing (blade being twice the length of the hilt or slightly longer) normally with a bit more waisting, and the pommel expansions are typically crescentic (or perhaps more correctly 'sub-crescentic'), rather than the typically first century AD form you have depicted in your drawing.

Keep up the good work. I am keen to see how it turns out.
