That is, the back of your scabbard.
I"m pondering on how to wrap and attache the leather wraping to the wood core.
I"ll appreciate info and tips. Pictures will be super.

although I can't make a picture right now, as I'm not at home, where my gladii are. Make a mock up of paper of the measurements of the needed piece of leather. You should make it just a bit too small and make it wet. Now you can stretch the leather over the wooden core and after drying you get a tight fit. Most swords I've seen have a straight seem over the middle of the back. When your gladius scabbard have a totally covered front plate, you could of course put the seam on the front side (and it can be a bit less well made, or even glued if you prefer an easier method.
