Attitudes to the past

Does somebody knows any books and articles about ancient Greek and Roman attitude to the past and their historical memory.
I am mostly interested how the Greek and Roman historians viewes these problemes.

Since no one is replying, here's a short list from my readings, heterogenous in both quality and scope:

Gerald A. Press, The Development of the Idea of History in Antiquity, McGill-Queen's UP 1982
Nino Luraghi (ed.), The Historian Craft in the Age of Herodotus, Oxford UP 2001 (includes an introduction and 14 studies)
John Marincola (ed.), A Companion to Greek and Roman Historiography, Blackwell 2007, 2 vols (introduction and 57 other contributions)

Please also note there are books and articles focused on a single author, for example: Emily Baragwanath, Motivation and Narrative in Herodotus, Oxford UP 2008
