Hey guys, I'm starting Josephus's histories of the jews. I know that this must be a good book, as everyone seems to take ideas from it. Here's my question: What are the best books for detailed Roman military history...besides Caesar..which I also have to read for school <br>

Well, if you mean source material, Polybius is one of the best and most detailed, Vegetius wrote a treatise on the army at the end of the 4th century. It's detailed but not always dependable. Other specialist treatises were written by Arrian and Ps.Hyginus. Cassius Dio, Tacitus, Livy etc. contain plenty of bits of military history, but they're not always very detailed.<br>
