Koblenz ridge helmet

Sorry for not replying before, but you need to ask Cezar for prices etc. He can be contacted via the market place section.

Comitatus are lucky in that people like what we do and we benefit from that. I have no idea of what the prices are to the general public, but I'm sure these helmets are worth every penny. The materials and craftsmanship are excellent.

The initial Indian versions of these helmets were very cheap at around £130, very large and far from perfect. But I'm sure they will get better.

Oh yes!

This one is a beauty though John! But, I have to ask why you went for a leather edging on the bars of the ear cover? I could see no evidence for that at all on any of the Koblenz fragments.

Thank you. I understand Cezar has another order based on this thread.

I think we were all influenced by the reconstruction from the Miks book, when doing this version and the initial Indian versions.

I can identify six fragments from that type of ear guard, and can really study a good photo of just one of them. This as you say doesn’t show any holes for stitching. But on the balance of probabilities I went for the initial interpretation since if I don’t like it when I see it in the flesh, I have just eight rivets to drill out and new ear guards to mount. Under 30 minutes work.

I’m used to replacing the rivets on our reconstructions. My mace removes them.

Good for you! They are certainly very speedy, much quicker than some makers. And the quality is excellent.
