Hannibal Book
#1
I bought the book "Hannibal" yesterday. I was wondering if it was any good or if anyone has it. I have read about 20 pages, and it is full of information. It has information about the Carthagian Army and the Roman Army, and it has the story of Hannibal it in with little maps and things like that.

Head of Roman Legion
Who's the author? I have one and it's pretty good.
By the way, what's this "Conquest of Germania" you're talking about? A game, or something?

The book's title is "Hannibal", and the author is Theodore Ayrault Dodge. The book was orriginally written in 1891, and has had few changes since then. Roman Conquest of Germania is a campaign for Age of Kings. There is a demo version released. You can go to romanlegion.fateback.com, then go to downloads->aok->campaigns->then you will have it.

Head of Roman Legion
Dodge is very good in his study of the ancient world. You will probably find that he has been to most or all the places of concern. I have read his book on Caesar and have found it to be ‘one’ of the best.

I bought Hannibal last year and enjoyed it thoroughly. What I really appreciated in the writing is that I could just read the synopsis at the beginning of each chapter to see if each chapter were something I wanted to read in depth. That way I could skip over those parts which didn't interest me, and I still didn't lose any of the continuity.
Speaking of the name "Hannibal", was anyone else grossly disappointed when you learned there was going to be a movie called Hannibal and then later learned it was a bout a cannibalistic psychiatrist and not about the Punic Wars?

SI HOC LEGERE POTES, OPERIS BONI IN REBVS LATINIS FRVCTVOSIS POTIRI POTES.

I love that book, it got me through a test on the Punic Wars!!! I bought it at Border's thinking that it would be pretty boring...and about the movie, I saw the poster and about did cartwheels with my popcorn in hand, but then I remembered about the cannabilistic man from Silence of the Lambs, and calmed down .. quite disappointed.

It's good to know someone else felt the rug pulled out from under his feet when he realized that movie wan't about the Second Punic War.

SI HOC LEGERE POTES, OPERIS BONI IN REBVS LATINIS FRVCTVOSIS POTIRI POTES.

Speaking of a movie, maybe someone talented in that thing should write one? And then, they could make it historically accurate, i know that i would go see it!
