Salvete,

I wanted to post for a new group in Southern California. I know a few of it's members are already on this board, but I didn't see the group posted yet.

COHORS I PRAETORIA
Location: We have members from various areas of southern and central California
We dont have a website yet, soon hopefully.

We are fairly new group, less than a year old, but at our first two events we made fine showings and were rewarded with a few awards.

Are you interested in reenacting as a Roman in the Colorado/New Mexico region? Are you an "orphan" looking for a group?

There is a brand new group forming in the Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah region of the USA. Portraying LEGIO VII GEMINA FELIX - stationed in Spain.

Period is 1st - 2nd Century AD.

We welcome civillians and families too! Primarily a living history display group, but we plan on doing drill, weapons training and other demo activities too. Doing both 1st and 3rd person historical interpretation to the public. We also have work sessions to build equipment.

Check out our website at:

The unit CO is also the owner of The White Mountain Forge, making reproduction Roman items too! Big Grin They can be found here:

Hi guys, this is my first post, though i lurk quite a long time in the forums...

I have a group to include in your list, though i am not a member, "Koryvantes" from Greece with main focus on Greek culture and hoplitic tactics.

Unfortuately, as far as i know it is the only re-enactment group in Greece. Re-enactment is not very widely known in Greece and also there is a prohibition in carrying blades by law here which forbits this kind of groups to form Cry

Their site:

We now have a web presence - Like the group, it is all new, and will be updated and added to soon! There is an interesting download - a catalogue of all Batavian-related epigraphy but it's large at 10mb!

Hi Adrian

Does this mean you have broken away from your parent Legion in the RMRS?

Your list of events does not appear to include Chester next year or will you be there with the RMRS?

Nice site by the way, very useful.

The RMRS do still have their own original Batavian auxiliary membership, but there were quite a few that made the decision to leave the RMRS. It was never on the cards that there would be a new group as a result. This new group all happened as many of us wanted to continue the close friendships within the auxiliaries and it was suggested that we further the Batavian auxiliaries in another direction.

We are growing fast! We can already field two contubernia, plus officer and Standards. Our civilian side is also getting bigger now.We have had our first events and it all looks rosy so far!

Regarding the Chester show, It is the same weekend as the Nijmegen Stichting Romeinen Festival which we have kindly been invited to attend. Paul Harston did also invite us to Chester, but we had already committed to Nijmegen.

The Association for the Reenactment of the Battles of the Second Punic War, BELLVM ANNIBALICVM, has born from the union of four spanish groups. We'll try to reenact some of the most important battles between cathaginian an roman forces around Europe.

You can visit us at http://bellvmannibalicvm.blogspot.com

Very interesting, José. The time between the Hannibalic War and the period immediately before the Marian reforms is one of my favourite periods, and I sometimes feel it is a bit neglected if compared to the imperial times (due in part to a less full archaeological record, I believe). Best of luck with this. I'm looking forward to more updates.
