Letter to Capurnica Arturius Germanicus at the Bakery Vicus Castra Vetera
Germania Inferior

Dearest Little Sister Capurinca;
By the intercession of the Gods I have arrive safe at my post in the wilds of
Britannia. There is much to relate as my journey was fraught with dangers. I
left from Bolugna Gaul with nearly 40 comrades to reinforce the garrison of a
frontier fort called in the barbarians
tongue "Lafe". At sea my comrades started falling ill and several had died by
time we reached port in Britannia. Many more were too ill to continue from the
port and by the time we reached a Fort called "Paragould" only three of us were
able to continue. When my last two comrades Marcillus and Brutus fell ill also
and had to return to Paragould I was left to continue alone with only a mule
carrying supplies to the garrison for company. When I neared the Fort I was
attacked by a huge fierce Celt who probably wanted the weapons and supplies
piled on the mule. After a desperate battle I prevailed although I lost the mule
who kicked off most of the weapons and ran off. I hid the weapons and dumped
the Celt in the river after taking his kit to try to identify his tribe. When I
arrived at the fort they were suspect of my story until the Centurion examined
my trophies! Also there was a Century from Legio II visited as escort for a
bunch of Senior officers. When one went out with a small detail and a Ballista
to show the Celts one of the officers turn traitor and with the Celts
slaughtered the detail! The Celts then attached the Fort and I fought bravely to
help repel the attack! When the Legio II gather us together to attack the Celt
village and recover the Artillery we found the village empty. When we returned
to the Fort we found more of the Senior Officers had turned traitor and had
given the Fort over the the Celts. We were now outside the Fort and opposed
from within by the Celts, the German bodyguards of one of the traitorous Senior
officers and a few Legionaries who had gone over to the conspiracy. Let by the
brave and Loyal Centurion we attacked the Fort and burst through the gate
killing all the Celts and traitors.
I was of course hailed for my bravery in the attack also. I was a little
disappointed that the was little loot to be had as it was our own camp and the
Centurion got all of the officers stuff and did not see fit to share it out.
Such I guess is fate at least I have fought bravely and survive to relate the
tale to you my dear Sister. My the Gods favor you and write me back soon with
some warm socks too as it is cold here and even snowed not long after the battle
even though it is spring!
