In Roman mythology (and there must be a Greek equivalent), there are famale dolphin riders called "Nereids" which are literally "Sea nymphs". Besides dolphins, they can also be seen riding Ketos, or sea dragons. One of the best representations is on the Augustus Peace Monument in Rome, where the Ketos dragon looks remarkably like a real, prehistoric Plesioaur! Perhaps they were still around then (though today, largely restricted to Loch Ness).<br>
