Tunica : wool type needed?

Thank you for the Info. I red both books from Mr. Graham and I think they are mandatory for somebody interested in roman dress.

I experimented with scrap fabric and you are right the tent size is best to achieve the look of the statuary evidence. I aim for a little pass the elbow to mid calf in cruciform body stance.

I do need help tough to dress correctly, it is very hard to have the neat pleat alone. I use I simple rope belt with the tunic tucked under at the hip and a ventralis over it.

I haven’t made the tunic yet because I am jammed with the stitching. What is the best way? I need to lock the edge to prevent fraying and provide finishing for the head and arms holes. But with this the stitched joint on the shoulder and side is very tick. Look a little lique this: ¯¯¯­]­ [­¯¯.

Suggestion is appreciated. I do not want to scrap that very expensive piece of fabric. :|

If you have the width in the material, I always go for a width that almost reaches my wrists.
