Just an interesting picture, a backwards battle with Carthage if you will, Roman on an Elephant! Don't see that every day. Not a bad elephant driver either

Oh, fun!! You want to hold on to the driver a little tighter, though, in case the elephant bucks, eh?

Hey, Romans *did* use elephants at times, as late as the invasion of Britain under Claudius. So this is a perfectly authentic photo. Very cool.

It was fun, I just had used the Hannibal and Carthage joke for the people watching, the picture that didn't come out was funnier as it was several of us running away from the elephant in terror. It was too bad though they made me take off my helmet and I couldn't bring my gladius or scutum on with me, would have made for a better picture.

On a side note, the girl sitting in front of me is my wife, there were handlers on the ground making sure the elephant didn't go nuts, luckily they didn't end up in the picture.

Oh and sitting on an elephant with just a tunica on is an interesting experience...should have remembered my braccae
