Historischer Atlas der antiken Welt
#1
My review of the new Historischer Atlas der antiken Welt is here. I have one serious and several less serious complaints about it, but there are worse ways to spend 200 euros.

Interesting, but how does it compare to the Barrington Atlas, which you mentioned as well?
Greets!

Barrington shows the topography at one moment (Roman age); this German atlas starts in Sumeria and Egypt and treats Byzantium too, and has not just topographical maps, but also thematic one on e.g. trade. There are also more explanations.

Thank you for your review, Jona. It is always valuable to read the views of someone with local specialised knowledge. For the Bataveraufstand, I would simply have accepted the word of the eminent author of the relevant DKP/DNP entry, without asking myself why an Eastern specialist should know anything about Germania inferior. :?
