I have been doing a study on the military equipment of Rome's enemies in the Balkans, but I have not been able to glean much information on the Illyrians. What kind of weapons and armor would they have used? Perhaps they would have been armed like Thracian peltasts? Or may have inherited more from the Gaulish Celts? And would they have utilized bladed weapons like the Dacian falx and the Thracian sica?

Duncan Head's "Armies and Enemies of the Macedonian and Punic Wars" ( published by Wargames Research Group, 1982) has a useful section on Illyrian warriors, though not a great deal is known about them.......
