I liked this one...it was from the 2nd link down, and titled "Brutus". I think it's rather authentic, since it captures that look of "ah s**t" that was probably on Brutus' face when he realized he was on the losing team.

Again, it's so sad. It wouldn't be that much harder for them to get it "sort of" right. Good comedy, though, and you can see guys dressed more or less like that near the Colisseum, and they'll even let you get your picture taken with them for a nominal fee. What a deal!

No kidding... for a bit more you actually look almost halfway decent. Most of the stuff you could buy you can also make (shield, a wooden sword in a metal sheath would look metal). It really distorts reality. Unfortunately only the people that REALLY want to learn actually go out and try to find out what's accurate. The majority of people would believe any of these to be based on actual history.
