What is this?
#1
Hello everybody, I was trying to find more information on the Parazonium when I came across this picture on the internet of an eagle hilted blade in a scabbard and theres no description as to where this came from, I'm assuming it must be apart of some sculpture? Does anybody know the story on this? Is it authentic?

I have seen examples of this sword appearing in the 2nd century---it shows it was carried by officers. Crispvs, any thoughts on this subject? Some of the heads were carved of ivory--it sure does look nice though!

Well I know Swords and Parazoniums with Eagle heads on the hilts are common in Roman sculpture and depictions of officers and battle scenes, but this particular piece, what is the story on it? Is it a piece of sculpture from a statue? Is it an actual remains of a sword/parazonium? If its sculpture than from which sculpture, what year and of who, etc. I'm just wondering who knows the story on it, if anything is known about it.
