Conference on Living History and Museum Education/Germany
#1
Hello,

this will be of interest for German re-enactors mostly but nevertheless: From July, 3rd – 5th, a conference is held at the LVR-LadesMuseum Bonn, called “Vermittlung von Vergangenheit – Gelebte Geschichte als Dialog von Wissenschaft, Darstellung und Rezeption”

Roughly translated to: “Interpreting the Past – Living History as Dialogue by Science, Costumed Interpretation and Reception”

German museum officials are sill at odds with the concept of living history. The conference will explore the possibilities that living history programmes, re-enactments etc. provide for museum education at general but also inquires the need for quality management.

Cheers,

Andreas

Is this is German?

Would they be receptive to English speakers? I am currently about to publish on the subject of bringing theory and practice together in experimental archaeology from the session we did at the Theoretical Archaeology Group conference in Southampton in Dec 08.

Cheers

Yes, this conference is held in German up to know. But adding a foreign perspective might be a really good idea! Hearing a lecture in English is no problem with German sholars. - normally. ;o)

Just ask the organizers [email protected]
