I just finished using carburetor cleaner on my hamata. I started out hanging it as described but I found that the method worked better by simply laying the hamata on the driveway. The shirt had developed a few brown spots and by spraying on the carburetor cleaner followed by brushing with a metal brush I managed to clean the shirt quite nicely. I then gave the shirt a coating of WD-40.

Sounds promising... I was out today and couldn't find carb cleaner, but I did find brake disk cleaner... from all indications it cleans in a very similar manner.

I played witht he evapo rust today... and wow... It removes the rust totally and completely, even to an old rusted 3 lb hammer head that is now steel gray. Does leave carbon marks that have to be biffed out, but seems worth the cost. I dropped a whole helm in that got wet at lafe and it looks like new (with a little elbow grease polishing) Best part is it gets rust in places you cannot see. I will do some chainmail next, I set it out today to get good and rusty.

Wow, that stuff sounds incredible!
I wonder if it is available in Canada yet?

PS - Rusty, tomorrow night is Legio XXI's first Passion Play... thanks for all the help with the latin, it has really made a big difference in the illusion of it all.
