Sagum weave pattern
#1
What would be the appropiate weave pattern for a sagum in the 1st Century AD. I have seen people wear herring bone patterns while others wear diamond patterns, broken twills, etc.

I have also seen material for sale in the marketplace on RAT with the above patterns. I am just wondering which one is more "correct".

I have read the Roman Military Clothing books and although they are excellent, I do not ever recall seeing information on the weave patterns. Twill, diamond, herring bone, etc

Any help would be appreicated.

Hi

Have a look through the bibliography in each book. Anything by Wild, or Jorgensen will be of help to you.
