Serbian/Slav helmet
#1
Double post this as I've stuck it in the Byzantine section as well.
Came across this helm (copy?) the other day, reputed to be Serbian C10th, but looks earlier and similar to some migration helms. Any thoughts :?

Hello mate,

Migration? Not really, stylistically it looks more like 11th-13th C Russian ones like the Gnzedovo and Novgorod helms.

In fact, looking at it again, I'm pretty sure that IS a copy of one of the Gnezdovo helms.

Aaaaah, cos it is, silly b****r!

Thought the nasal and brow band looked familiar but the whole thing looked a bit 'dumpier' which threw me.
