The draw of the later period is gaining control!!! Soon you'll forget all about the early empire

Well done Chuck.Any idea of the shield design/unit you may wish to portray?

Thanks Fasta,i thought it might be,judging by its similarity to mine, the only thing is,if it,s 3rd Century(as it appears)would it mix with a late 4th Century helmet as seen in the photos or am i misinterprating this?.

We have all got to start somewhere.I'm encouraging a new project.
It's still early days for a specific time.Give him chance. The two items are from diverging ends of a period,I've seen them used together before. Confusedhock:
But not everyone has access to the things we can get in uk/europe.But things are going to get better, trust me.
I've yet to see a portray from your good self
Any chance of something?I'd like to see your germanic twist.

ya this is the late late roman model from deepeeka. when i bought it i was told it was ok for 4thc. save the bottom chape on the scabbard. i have a nice 5thc sword that could be used for 4thc http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3097/318 ... 8921_b.jpg , but I need to keep my kits separated. trying not to overlap gear, it gets confusing and stuff gets lost in the bins. also so when i have all my kits lined up i don't have to hurry up and make something at the last minute.

i have the 3rdc deepeeka model too. that will be shown as soon as my new tunic is done to go with the new kit. (any ideas for hats in the 3rdc? I don't have a helmet yet so I need some head wear)

Salve and Wassail Fasta!,please, don't misunderstand my meaning,i was'nt criticising his kit,i just wondered if he knew about the range in dates, being new to our period, personaly,i reckon it looks great(and it's better than mine!),and,on that subject, there are two reasons why nobody's seen me in mine yet-1)i don't have a useable photo as yet and 2)i don't have a clue how to post it  ....Tiberius,i see on your photos you have a red Tetrachic cap, well, that is very acceptable for the 3rd Century so i would use it instead of finding or making something else, and all the best with your new subject,as they say,the more, the merrier Big Grin .

Looking good Chuck. Next thing is a good hasta of about 7-8 ft. with a heavy spearhead, to properly finish your outfit.
Those grey stripes.. I can't quite make it out.. too far off... not duct tape, is it? 8)

All is well Sir.I look forward to the pics when you are able.Alas I'm subject to the public or group pics myself.Sometimes I'm even caught out by them
As for the helmet liner I've seen it with a little more life span, but would never been seen in leather for so many reasons

They are very easy to make and in the past I've made a few for new starters until they more on to finer products  They soften the blows
