I remember when I had my wisdom teeth out they gave me something in an IV, and it left me really high once I had woken up. Probably something similar...some kind of pain killer.

Hehhe, I had some teeth removed for my braces and whatnot when I was in my early teens.

Being my first experience under anesthesia, and being 'knocked out' for the procedure, it was an interesting if not wierd experience.

When I woke up in recovery, my mom came and had to basically carry me to the car. One of the apparent side-effects was tearing/crying, and, being so darn groggy and disorientated, I sort of freaked out a little...

Apparently I exclaimed to my mom as we walked out of the office: "Mom, I'm NEVER going to do drugs if this is what it's like!"

needless to say I've had to have a few operations (including wisdom teeth out) since then but the experience was not as 'traumatic', just the typically grogginess Big Grin

And...I never did, and never will, do drugs 8)

When I was 18 I was told by my parents that if I went ahead and bought a motorbike I would have to find my own place to live. Around this time I also had my wisdom teeth removed and my mom escorted me from the dentists. Whilst coming round I 'dreamt' that I told my mom about my new bike which was hidden in my friend's garage and told her 'SSHH! Don't say anything or I'll be kicked out!'.
Guess who had to find somewhere else to live shortly afterwards

Truth has a way of leaking out around the edges of our defenses, doesn't it? Hope you've made up the rift. :|

Nitrous Oxide, baby!! If they offer it, TAKE IT. I had a gum graft a couple years ago, and it was WONderful! I think they used some kind of nerve blocker as well, because my whole mouth was basically not there any more. Couldn't even hear the instruments through my bones like I usually do with dental work. Wild. Felt lucid the whole time, but my limbs felt as if they were weighted down by heavy warm blankets. Afterwards, while I was paying at the front counter, I kept starting to dance to the background music! At that point I realized I was way too high to try driving home (though it's generally a good idea to be sedated while driving I-95 in rush hour), so I just sat in the waiting room for another half hour until I wasn't quite so happy.

I've never done drugs, either, I don't even drink, but if I ever start, it'll be nitrous for me. Great stuff.

Matthew

PS: If anyone wants any advice about gum grafts, just let me know!
