Can you help with identification of the following item?

Dimensions are
140mm length
17mm width handle (without nodules)
23mm width handle (with nodules)
25mm Hilt prong

Quote:
I think everything points to it being Roman or possibly a Greek sword hilt.
It is Curved downwards but the guard (of which only the left prong still exists) is very odd in that it curves down and around so when held in the palm,it curles around your forefinger "like a Knuckleduster".
There is a letter C on the extant left guard (Was an S on the missing one?)
It is very well constructed out of a single piece of bronze, cast and the reverse seam is brasied and flattened. The hilt has "nodule" decoration which is complete. The blade (long missing) would have been braised onto the hilt and would have curved upwards (the down curving hilt being the counterbalance)....is this a sica?
