Legio IX HISP Lararium
#16
I have kinda put this on the back burner but now I have re-started it. Here is the progress of it. I will clean up the lines at the end but just needed to see the over all view of the areas needed to be painted. I am using milk paint with a little egg whites to help it stick better to the clay. The three Gods and Goddess are Mars to the left, Juppiter in the middle, Victory on the right. Below Juppiter will be a picture of a bull running in a field with a rooster sitting on the ground.

Not if you hire a gang of pixie artists! Tongue

Seriously though, very nice work, and on such an awkward canvas!

Thanks

I had to saw down a couple of paint brushes handles to fit around the columns. Its painting the straight lines thats so tough on the back wall.

I can't decide on the color of the two panels behind Mars and Victoria. I am leaning towards black, but I have seen the panels above as a lighter color of red. It will go well with that color of blue in the panel behind Jupiter. Does anyone have an opinion on this?

Well IMHO I think that you should use a deep color for the Mars and Victoria background
so that it would look like Jupiter is on the front row and M&V on the second.
Not blue, V's dress is already deep-blue,
Green or red would be fine.

The good thing about milk paint is I can mix it with the amount of pigment I need. To just get any color I need. The bottom of the shine you can see the different paint colors I have tried to get a color before I apply it to the wall. And the good thing is when I am done just paint over it and its gone.

I will mix some paint up that is a lighter color of red. Thank you Sutoris for the help. I will post more pictures of my progress as I get them.
