I agree Crispus with what you said . I was in the Parachute regiment with over 22yrs service and was a senior NCO and we knew what kit best suited us in likes of Afghanistan , Iraq and various other places , all through experience and better pay than the lower ranks so I can understand where your coming from .

As i remember there are'nt tombstones with segmentata depicted, so not only the centuriones, even the soldiers are'nt showed in such armour.
So, the absence in tombstones is not conclusive.

Thanks, Byron. I made it out of black walnut, finishing it with only some linseed oil. The horsehair is natural "white" horsehair.

Thanks again lads for all your great pics and comments . I will probably go for Hamata but I might experiment with Segmentata just for curiosity and just to see what it does actually look like with the Phalarea and the like unless you think Segmentata is not the wat to go .
