Oooh! To add onto that - "Yeah Why did ancient Egyptians bury everything in all of that sand?"

Well there actually was a method to that madness when you're talking about mummies. Tongue

"You're a bit skinny to be a Roman aren't you?"

Thank you. I was very polite, and gave a good account of half starved legionnaries on expeditions into Iraq, but I don't think she listened. I was, and never will be, Russell Crowe.

Made me feel pretty crap, all in all.

WOW

To everything in your link.

That is fantastic. The play, the actors, the costumes, the bloody concept. The use of Roman re-enactors. I'd love to have seen that.

WOW ... again!

Yours truly appears here wearing blue feathers (and more besides). Unfortunately my crest block decided to part company with my crest box while I was busy hammering. The chap in the trooper helmet is from the church that organised the event, as are the temple guards, just so you know.

Quote:Yeah, they're out there, I don't deny it! But be fair, the vast majority of them are simply ignorant, not stupid. Ignorance we can cure, in fact that's why we're there. Take care of some of that, and the stupidity will be marginalized.

And it works both ways, folks. There have been occasions where I (wearing my Magic Cloak of Incognito) have asked a re-enactor a simple, straightforward question about some aspect of the functioning and everyday use of a piece of kit (let's say, for the point of illustration, some lorica segmentata) and got back a generalised piece of guff about the whole thing because my question was not listened to carefully enough. Easily done after a long hard day being poked and photographed by the punters, I suppose, but let's not forget there are fools on both sides; fortunately they are few and far between.

Oh, Poor Mike, we could have soooo much fun with that admission...

Things like getting into a line and saying "I Am Mike Bishop" ala "I Am Spartacus"....

Although, I'm glad to hear you didn't berate the poor guy you asked the question to, saying things like "You have ANY idea who I am??!!"
