Quick Latin question
#1
I'm having a stupid, and my Stowasser isn't helping me:

Does natalis in 'dies natalis' inflect like an adjective, or does it work like an independent genitive? Would the accusative be

diem natalem

or

diem natalis

Thanks

Hi Volker,

Natalis as a noun means birthday already, so wouldn't natalis as a genitive be superfluous combined with dies?

In my opinion it's an adjective. So I would go for diem natalem.

I agree with Hans.

Every time I've wished someone happy birthday in Latin, I've always used: felicem diem natalem!

Thanks!

Hallmark should really get going on proper off-the-shelf Latin cards.
