Ok then. I presume Waalkade, casino and Roman wall has the same meaning as Chester Grosvenor shopping precinct V Roman Legionary baths complete with unique wall paintings and mosaics. Or Chester Inner ring Road V best surviving Roman legionary fortress wall tower in Chester that had been incorporated into the medieval wall and finally Chester Indoor market V Elliptical building unique in the entire Roman world.
And you think Nijmegen has a reputation!
Sad thing is, in spite of all these developments in the 60's a recent out of town development seems to be slowly strangling Chester city centre, there seems to be more and more empty shops in the historic core every time I visit and that was before the current financial crisis. So all those Roman remains could have made a major tourist attraction if someone had had the foresight. It still goes on of course there could have been an entire Amphitheatre on display by now if someone had had the will.
So go on Robert rally the troops, man those walls and beat off the barbarian developers!
