Men\'s Roman Jewelry
#1
Hey, I was wondering if anyone knew of a site that would sell Roman jewelry that would have been worn by men and would look masculine by todays standards. Technically I have no idea if Roman men really wore much for jewelry unless they were mooku rich. I've seen some decent looking authentic rings on Ebay ( I know what many of you think of that), but I'd like a nice necklace too. Right now I wear a necklace with a pewter nail on the end, and some fake dogtags. I'd like to get something new and Roman, that looks cool too.

Thanks for any help Smile

Although there is much of discussion if it's a horse gear pendant, or a soldiers pendant, you could go by a phallus:

Other yewelry that could be weared by a men are rings with inscriptions of the emperor, your legion, are useable ones like a key-ring and a seal ring.
Also, but I don't know how it's called, you could wear such a small tablet as a pendant on you neck with and inscription of your legion.

Many beads were found inside forts. This type in particular from Vindolanda..

I'm not too sure about the looks I'd get about wearing male genitals for jewelry lol.
For the tablet you speak of, it may be called a cartouche. At least that is what Egyptians wore with their names and such on them. Not sure of a Latin name though.
Thanks Peroni for the links.

I'm used to wear those on events, and sometimes you have to explain, sometimes they even don't notice (exspecially the 'bird' one isn't always seen as what it is). If I wear jewelry normally it's just a ring (with the emperor) or a torque.
