Sorry to hijack your original post for my own purpose. If anyone could help locate for sale a copy of 'Das Schwert im Fruhen Mittelalter' author Wilifeid Menghin I would be very very very greatful. I have tried the usual book search sites, specialist book sites, but this book seems to be a bit of a rare gem.

Menghins book on the swords may still be early medieval equivalent to Oakeshott, but imho it is highly overrated and I would never pay the kind of money that is being asked for used copies.
Remember that it is a quarter of an century old and that many new finds and discussions need to be taken into account.
Try to have a look at it in a library before you spend money that could buy you more useful resources.

Just my 2 cents, ymmv
