Fastners Linothorax
#1
I have noticed many many nice recreations of linothorax's on this forum. I just have one question (or lots Smile . Were do u guys get your Linothorax fastners? DO u guys buy them or cast them?
What would be appropriate to use or easily obtained modern version? Besides the manning imperial gorgon head which is nice but expensive and still leaves fastners for the sides.
What are appropriate for greek styles, floral or maybe lions? I only ask because the best i could find were some brass or bronze furniture knobs.

Hi Gabriel. Welcome to the Forum. Most of us use pommels. If you find lino heads with rings, they're accurate. Othe rouned pommels with rings or not are also accurate. We don't have mush evidence and sculptures and vase paintings are pretty plain usually. The only identified linothorax fastennings I have seen are golden and found in Philip's tomb in Vergina. Here are some photos of them.

And since the iron cuirass found in the tomb in its everything copies a linothorax, one would imagine the fittings could be like those of a linothorax, too.
