My first attempt at lasted shoe making (the Mainz calceus)

I made the lasts from 2x6 pine:

Attempts to modify modern lasts failed miserably. I probably did not get the fit perfect, if anything these are a tad over size.

The right boot:

Now I need to finish the left boot. The upper is veg tanned goat with the flesh side out. The insole is stitched to the upper using a tunnel stitch as Martin shows in his How-To. The most difficult part is forming the leather around the toe. Not all that much leather to cut, but there is allot of stitching.

Indeed a very nice attemt. I also like your home-made lasts. much better than start with modern ones and modefy them. Laudes!
