Lost papyri still out there?
#1
I had heard some time ago that a villa (in Pompeii?) had been uncovered which held a library and they were working on the papyri housed within. Any word on this?
Also, are there any ancient libraries that we know of which are still missing, i.e., that might still hold some of the missing lost works? Is that very realistic?

No herculaneum. The villa of the scrolls. So far its all philosophy not the missing volumes of Tacitus alas. At least the charred scrolls can now be read and there are plenty of other villas and this one with secrets to reveal. There is of course Vindolanda with years of finds to be made.

The missing works of Tacitus are very unlikely to turn up there, since he was only about 25 at the time of the eruption of Vesuvius. His histories were written in the early 2nd century.
Greets
