KHAIRE FRIENDS,
I'M NEW TO THE R.A.T. AND WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE HAD ANY INFO ON SCYTHIAN WOMEN CLOTHING? WHAT I KNOW,WHICH BY THE WAY ISN'T A HECK OF A LOT, IS THAT THEY WERE PRETTY MUCH NOMADS. THE WOMEN WORE TATTOOS AND I THINK THEIR GARB WAS KINDA ON THE ASIAN STYLE. IF ANYONE COULD ENLIGHTEN ME, I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT. THANKS,
ARGOTERA,
JIM

Hello Jim and welcome officially too!
Taking for granted that the "Greek" Amazons as depicted in their art is a completely different thing than what those women would look like, i think it doesn't do any harm to note that the Greeks preferred to depict them in many different forms depending on the age and form of art. For example,in the archaic and early classical times they're depicted in the same form as Skythians were by Greek artists. The problem is,were real Skythians anything close to how the vase painting show them? Or was there a generic form to indicate nomadic or generally Asian Barbarians(trousers, bows, phrygian caps)? Later in the fifth century we also see them wearing hoplite panoplies some times with trousers and some times not. In later classical times they're shown either in the Greek "light" military kit, i.e. exomis or even in Persian clothes, often unarmored. The finds from those graves of warrior women show nothing close to the above. I don't know much and I'm sure some people have much more to say about those graves, those women and who(what) they were.

Well, tried registering, but whatever it is saying in German, I don't think it means Welcome, you have successfully registered....
