Soon Bryan!

Hey maybe we can send some Roman "hardtack"?

I bet you could build a mudbrick bread oven.... How about we send some spelt wheat flour, yeast and instructions?

Sure, All I have to do is set it in the sun for an hour or two and it would be ready to eat! Tongue I like the roman hardtack idea though. Will you be bringing the beer to Lafe in 2010?

Clearly the 9th has a cooking ministry! The next stage is to trailer mount it and save yourself the trouble of the construction.
I dont suppose you see these in the States but all over France there are these sort of ovens some of which are still in use. Never seen one in the uk apart from some Pizza ovens.
Incidentally have you thought of making ocellae which are pizza topped with olives and cheese but of course no Tomatoes?

Derek we at the point where we can no longer rely on members from South California to volunteer to haul gear to larger events. We will in future be renting a 16' panel truck with lift gate.

We've also added a few week long events to our calendar in order to make hauling and setting up all that "stuff" more rewarding! Two day events are nice but require so much effort for so little time.

There's one we did tha took 5 days of driving for 2 days of event. ...sigh...

We are currently working on a week long event in Texas for 2010.. make it worth everyone's while to travel so far. A full week of drills and training and activity! New guys will be able to spend a week at workshops and go home with finished segmentatas, lots of other gear and a fulfilling experience!

One event we do is likely to aprove our use of a pallet sized space for storing oven bricks and materials.

PIZZA. .. yeah! ...we did one a few months ago. flatbread, olives, o;live oil, garlic, basil, cheese....

THREE new pictures of the CLIBANUS

Agricola, our lead cook.. and hero to the ladies!... He spent most of his time at Ft Mac Days prepping and cooking food, assisted by Vitruvius the Never Hungry

Also, a good view of the warming deck on top of the CLIBANUS

The following two pictures are of the CLIBANUS being disasembled.
In the first picture you can discern the layering of the mudding.
It came down very easy.. a few blows with a LIGO and the dried mudding exfoliated right into the blue bin.. mostly.
