Need help with Roman coin
#1
My dad gave me a Roman coin for my birthday, and I'm trying to figure out where and when it was minted. The writing on the outside of the coin is in pretty bad shape, but the figures look clear. My dad had no idea about it. All he knew was that it was Roman...

-Looks like a centurion w/vine staff, could be mistaken...

- at the centurian's feet is a small figure of an eastern decent

- above the small figure and to the right of the centurion reads "X" with three ones below it.

The figure on the back looks like Nero.
Holy cow I was amazingingly wrong. I managed to identify "Cons" in the writing. The coin looks a lot like the one below, but with the differences I mentioned...
The coin is without question a Constantinian era coin. However, it could belong to one of several culprits, as each emperor in this period used very similar coinage. Constantine, Constantine II, Constans, Constantius II and Constantius Gallus are all possibilities with the described reverse image and CONS obverse inscription.

The reverse image could be any of several possible deities or representations depending on what they are holding and doing. Genius, Victory, Securitas, Jupiter, the emperor himself, etc. are all possibilities.

Can you make out a little more of the inscription, or better yet, get a picture? When trying to identify coins, I've found that www.wildwinds.com can be a great help.
Caesar si viveret, ad remum dareris
As mentioned above without seeing the coin, other than to say it is likely to be minted in Constantinople (if the cons is at the very bottom of the reverse of the coin) it could be any of the later emperors.
