"National Roman Legion"
#61
Quote:The national Legion website cites "40" sets of equipment on hand that are an important reason to organize on the 14th. Isn't this older Deepeeka gear that is no longer used if possible by most reenactors?
Also I think the whole Uniformity vs Diversity discussion applies here as
the website seems to advocate hard to the uniformity side. Link to the
discussion:

Uniformly ununiform would have been the uniform of the day. There would have been a certain general appearance to the unit but most definitly not kitted out identical. All the shields would be matching for the legionaries, the auxillaries would be differant from the legionary schild. I believe if we were able to see or travel back and see actual Roman Legions In the Field , in Camp , on triumph Parade , off duty in towns and retired we would be very surprised I should think and probably say they were not authentic. Confusedhock: Big Grin

in thought it would probably be nice, easier to run but the end of the day its a hobby , for fun for education for relax and enjoy the company of freinds.

This post has been removed by the author. I do not see a point to being on a forum where moderators such as Matt Lanteigne aka Magnus can practice harassment and hypocritical behavior. RAT seems to have slipped into a place where people of this ilk can do or say whatever they want AND since he's a moderator, I guess it's all okay w/ the forum owners. Good luck, but I am done here.

Quote:ESG?? Hey, does that mean someone will PAY me to reenact? Could I live off of it? Have them ISSUE me kit, instead of having to suffer to get it? Hmmmmm.....

It is Dan Petersen's idea, web site, unit number and his large set of
equipment. My recommendation is that he step aside and take mostly an advisory role and perhaps form a reenactment group representing a Legion Headquarters with him as Camp perfect (legion version of HQ company copmmader I think) and let some other more diplomatic members take the lead in forming a National organization. He has made a lot of key leaders in the hobby very angry with him and his idea will probably not work otherwise.
